SO, you’re ready to move forward…

I have developed an interview/consultation process that works well for me.   Although it may seem intimidating, don’t let it overwhelm you.  The intent of this process is to help move things along in a manner that will allow us both to get to know each other and stay within our  comfort zone.

If at any time, you determine I am not the right person for you, please do not hesitate to let me know, or let me know of your concerns and we can talk about it.  I promise I will give you the same courtesy.  It has been my experience, that without all of this in depth learning about each other’s work style and personalities; it takes much longer for me to act as your right hand.

Here we go…

“Who” – Our Initial Get to Know You Call

The first step is a brief 15-minute phone conversation.  The “Who” conversation.  Who are you, who I am, and how we get along.  Do we instantly hit it off?  Do we have the same interests (outside of work)?  The only requirement I have is that we cannot talk business.  While, this may seem strange, I’ve found that having this conversation helps us to break the ice and learn if our styles complement one another.   I recommend to any potential client that they have this type of a conversation with ALL of the people they are interviewing.  You don’t want to bring someone into your business, who you do not instantly bond with, or feel like you can trust.

A Simple Assessment

At the end of the first conversation, if we both feel excited about moving forward  I ask that you fill out a quick assessment. This is done online, and should not take you more than 10 minutes to complete.  This assessment is designed to tell me a bit more about your style and what you were looking for in a VA/OBM relationship/partnership.

“What / Where” – Nuts and Bolts Conversation

If after the “Who” conversation we both agreed to move forward, the second conversation resembles a traditional interview.  The “What and Where”.  Here we talk about what you are looking for in a VA/OBM.  What am I looking for in a client?  What are your goals?  What do you need help with right now?  Where do you want to take your business in the future?  Where are you on your life path?  Where can I add my experience and skills to provide you with the time you need to focus on your business?

“How” – Deeper Discussion Conversation 

Again, if we both feel confident we’ll make a good team, we have a third conversation.  The “How”.  This time, we talk more in depth.  With specific topics regarding “how” we will work together.  We discuss what it will look like to work together, and set detailed goals.
